They will judge you

Roya Habibi

If you are a woman, they judge you.
They scrutinize your every smile,
Your face, which you didn’t choose,
Every strand of your hair
Which dares to fly out of your scarf
Without taking notice of those
Who seek their faith in your body,
Your spirit and your body,
About every piece of you and your womanhood,
Your love, your partner…
They will continue to scrutinize you.

Do not be afraid and remain a woman.
There will be many obstacles on your way,
But do not fear the accusations
Of the mindless of this city.
If you are afraid,
Slowly you will be dead and only appear woman.
